Bangalore, India – In a groundbreaking move to empower people with disabilities, the Ability Unlimited College of Performing Arts (AUCPA) in Bangalore has launched the world’s first University-recognized Certificate and Diploma programs in Classical Wheelchair Dance. This pioneering initiative offers persons with disabilities a chance to pursue professional training in classical dance using wheelchairs, enabling them to secure roles as dancers, choreographers, and stage technicians while gaining the confidence to lead dignified lives.

The program has been designed and innovated by Dr. Syed Sallauddin Pasha, a National Awardee honoured by the President of India. Dr. Pasha, who authored the syllabus and accompanying book on Classical Wheelchair Dance, has dedicated decades to transforming lives through dance. The course is officially recognized by Karnataka State Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysore, marking a significant milestone in the fields of classical dance and disability empowerment
“This initiative is not only a world-first but also a game-changer for specially abled individuals. It has sparked global interest, with inquiries pouring in from across the world,” said Mahiraa Jaan Pasha, Founder and Director of AUCPA. “We are creating opportunities for these talented individuals to shine, providing them with the tools and training they need to succeed.”
AUCPA goes beyond offering professional courses by providing scholarships, free accommodation, and even custom-designed dancing wheelchairs for practice. This holistic approach ensures that every aspiring dancer has access to the resources necessary to excel.
The launch of this initiative represents a new ray of hope, forging a historic path in the realms of classical dance and disability advocacy. As more individuals take part in this program, it paves the way for inclusivity and innovation on a global scale.
